DENTAL IMPLANT RESTORATION

Chew, speak and smile with comfort and confidence again

WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental implants are small, titanium posts that connect to a dental prosthetic to replace missing teeth. These implants are inserted into your gums and tooth-supporting jawbone, replacing your tooth roots and holding your prosthetic in place. Dental implants are the most effective way to restore your smile after losing teeth. Because implants are bonded to your jawbone, patients will very rarely experience a problem with them. However, there are complications that can occur, and Modern Smiles is prepared to assist you with any of them.

COMMON PROBLEMS WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS:

Dental implants are the most effective way to replace lost teeth because they are a permanent treatment with a high rate of success. However, problems can occur that require the expert analysis and treatment of our team at Modern Smiles.

LOOSE IMPLANT

The most common issue you may experience with a dental implant is a loose or cracked prosthetic. If this part of the implant gets damaged due to injury or chronic teeth grinding, the Modern Smiles team will create a new prosthetic for you.

DAMAGE TO THE PROSTHETIC

Much rarer than damage to the prosthetic attached to the implant is an issue with the implant itself. If the implant feels loose or insecure, the titanium within the implant may never have fully bonded to your jawbone during the initial surgery. The reasons this may happen are varied, so your Modern Smiles provider will assess the problem with you individually to determine the best solution.

HOW MODERN SMILES CAN RESTORE YOUR DENTAL IMPLANTS:

Dental care How our team goes about solving your particular problem with your dental implant will be unique to your own case and needs. To determine the best method of treatment, we will begin by taking X-rays and evaluating the existing implant to check for signs of disease or damage within the mouth.

In many cases, a problem with one implant can be a sign of problems in several of the others. This is why we take the time to assess and address your dental health overall to ensure that we can treat your case in its entirety.

If your attached prosthetic is damaged or cracked, please bring it in with you to your visit. The existing prosthetic may be reattached in some cases, or used to create impressions for a new one in others. Problems with the implant itself may take more time. Depending on the nature of your case, the Modern Smiles team may be able to repair the implant connector without ever having to remove the implant. In cases where the dental implant is loose, however, our team may choose to remove it. If the looseness in the implant is due to a lack of supporting jawbone, your provider may recommend removing the implant and performing a bone graft to give the implant something to latch on to.

There may be a variety of reasons why a dental implant may fail, but our team at Modern Smiles has the expertise and the experience to ensure your implant is restored as soon as possible.
